A Perfect Attitude
Hi and welcome back.
Hopefully you have got yourself a copy of the Sir Richard Branson books I spoke about in the last blog, and have read through them. I know that when I was reading them, they were so hard to put down my wife was nagging at me to get off the couch.
I know this my sound funny to some of you, but I am a firm believer of what you concentrate on in your mind, and truly believe, will happen. The secret in this statement is the truly belief part.
If you concentrate and truly believe, that you will meet someone who will take you on and help you achieve, I believe that is what will happen.
Many of you will have heard of the law of attraction. If you are positive in your attitude, you will attract positive people around you. Alternately if you are negative in you attitude, you will attract negative people to you.
What you think is what you become. if you think like a successful person, you will become successful because you have attracted successful people to you who will offer advise and assistance to help you become even more successful.
It doesn’t mean that you have to go out and spend yourself into bankruptcy to look like a million dollars. No, just dress to you better current situation and put on your best attitude and you will find that, slowly at first, things will start to happen in your life.
Imagine a train leaving the station, or an aeroplane taking off. At first they are slow to move, they are exuding most of their power at this time, but ever so slowly they increase speed until they are both at cruising speed. Now they can cut back their power and still maintain cruising speed.
It is going to be no different for you. At first it is going to take more effort to put on your best attitude, and maintain it through out the day. Slowly, though it will become a habit. People will notice the change in you. Soon you won’t have to concentrate on your attitude, you will spend more time concentrating on the other things in life that you are hoping to achieve.
See, your attitude has changed and you are now attracting the people to you, that will help you get along in life.
I believe in you. You have spent the time and energy to read these post and want to get somewhere ahead in your life. I know that you can achieve whatever you put your mind too.
I recommend you also read a couple of books that will help you in developing your self belief and attitude. They have been arund for decades, and today are still some of the leading books on attitude today.
They are : Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. (Click on the titles to get your copy.)
These are inspiring books. They do take a little concentration to read, as they were written a while back and the english language has change, but it will be worth the effort.
Remember ; What goes around – come around.
Have fun and be kind to each other.
Be Confident That You Will Achieve
Self confidence is one of the most important things that many people lack, and this is why they never get to achieve their dreams.
I am sure that you have seen that person walking down the street, head hung low, looking at the pavement, with a dejected look on their face and a shuffle in their walk.
They have a dream inside of them and they know that it is there. They have come to realise, in their own mind, that they can’t reach that dream. It is really a very sad sight to behold. They have lost their self confidence and the will to go out and do that little bit extra to grasp that dream in both hands and hang on to it until it becomes a reality.
Self confidence is what will give you the strength to grab you dream. You know that once you have it in your hands, that no matter how long it takes, you will never let go until it becomes a reality.
Self confidence is developed by who you associate with. It’s the friends you keep, the circles you mix in. These people are the one’s who build you up when you are down. Their conversations are about positive topics. They themselve’s are positive and self confident in their manner and attitude.
Self confidence is also developed by what you read. You are also what you read. By reading about how others have achieved is a fantastic way to build you self confidence. Many of the self made achievers through out the world began with nothing. They had little or no education, little or no finance.
One of the great achievers is Sir Richard Branson (the founder of Virgin Records and Virgin Airlines) who wrote
To review these books just click the titles.
If you find that reading biographies are hard going, then I recommend that you try these for a start. They are written (warts and all) more as a story than a biography, with a lot of humour. They are both a light and easy read with a lot of information on how Sir Richard went on to achieve where he is today.
Yep, they are affiliate links. That allows me to write this course at no cost to you. If you go ahead and purchase the books I will get a small percentage of the retail cost. If you by pass my link and but at retail, guess what? The price is still the same.
Have fun and be kind to each other.

How to Build the Dream
Welcome to part 3 of this series Working smart – not hard.
Okay, you read the last post and you are still having trouble deciding what it is that is going to drive you, that something special that is going to make you dive out of bed in the mornings feeling on top of the world and ready to go. That thing that will keep you up at nights studying or researching on how you can obtain it.
Don’t worry. At this stage what you are experiencing is natural.
Anyone who has found their dream, has had the same challenge in the beginning.
Do you remember when you learnt to ride a bike. You had trainer wheels on the back to help you get started, Then you progressed to riding without the trainer wheels. At first you were wobbly without the trainers, then you started to get you balance, then you got more confident and then you tackled going outside of the yard, and then into the traffic. Next thing you were riding to school.
From here, some of you even went on to cycle racing (I’m afraid that wasn’t for me
).
Well this is no different.
I used to think, what is going to drive me – I work 60+ hours a week and don’t have real time to think about some dream or goal these guy’s keep talking about! What is it that I really want (yeah I used to enjoy my JOB!)
I should find something! You know the more I tried to think of something the harder it got.
Then my mentor told me a couple of truths.
- Don’t should on your self!
- The harder you try to find something the harder it is to find.
It’s true you know. I kept chastising myself because I couldn’t find the dream. And that’s when things started to happen.
I relaxed and said to myself – okay mate, just relax and it will come to you.
That’s when I started to put pictures on the refrigerator. It got to the stage that the ‘fridge looked like a catalogue. It was a mass of confusion. My wife was going off her tree about all this stuff I had there. And saying that I was just dreaming (funny that) and that it would never happen.
I spoke to my mentor about this. Know what? He told me that she was right! Well that took the wind out of my sails a bit. “What do you mean – you told me I had to dream”. Yes he said, but I need to concentrate on one thing at a time.
Take baby steps, and as you grow into the baby steps, take bigger steps. Grow the dreams as you achieve the smaller dreams.
What he was telling me was that I had to learn to crawl before I could walk, walk before I could run.
That is when I began to learn how to build the dream.
You can have all the things you want in life. The new home, the new car, the new wardrobe, the trust account for your children’s schooling or the underprivileged and build your catalogue. That’s not wrong.
What I am saying is get excited about the little things that are difficult to achieve immediately. Something that is just out of reach.
When you get that – shoot for the next dream that is just out of reach, then the next, and the next.
We will go into this more in the future.
Till then – have fun and be kind to each other.
Build the Dream
Welcome to part 2 of this series Working smart – not hard.
We are going to discuss more on building your dream.
When I was first told that to achieve anything, I had to build a dream first, I thought my mentor was crazy. Build a dream – that’s what kids do. They dream about being doctors, firemen, nurses, all sorts of trades.
Adults don’t dream – they have nightmares.
Think about it. When you have dreams what are they about? If your single perhaps it’s about your next date, the girl/boy you are interested in. If your married it will be about the mortgage, car finance, school fees or how much the bank fees are. I guess you can see where I am coming from.
Finally I learnt that I had to dream about what I wanted in the future, not what what was happening today, or what my current financial situation was. That is when things started to change in our lives.
At the time I was serving with the Australian Merchant Marine, and I had a desire for a new car. We took a red sports car (red goes faster – you know!) for a test drive. It was fantastic.
Next trip to sea I had a model of a similar car to build. One of those plastic models that you glue together and paint. I even had the red paint. I built that model and had it siting on my desk the entire time at sea. When I paid off, we went to the dealers and there were two vehicles on the lot. One red, one white, and they were the same as the model I had built! Guess which one I took home?
That was the power of the mind. I had built the dream. I had instilled in my mind what it was I was going to achieve. And I got my red sports car.
I am not saying that you have to go out and find a model of what it is that you want. What I am saying is that you have to instill into your mind what you want to achieve. What you really Desire!
It’s no good saying I WANT A LOT OF MONEY. That means nothing. You need to be saying to your self “I need $x.xx’s by x.date so that I can……….. (build a new home/take a holiday/buy a new car/etc)”
If you have decided on a material object (car/home/bike/etc) get a picture of what model, what color, what size you want and stick it on the door of your refrigerator. Take those bills off the ‘fridge and put them somewhere else. The ‘fridge is one of the most used white goods in the home. This way you will continue to see your dream and instill it into your mind.
Get a smaller copy and frame it, take it to work and put it on your desk where you will see it every day. When your associates ask you about it, don’t be afraid to tell them that is what you will have some day.
Do Not take any notice of them if the jibe you about it. It is YOUR dream Not theirs!
Lets get you started
Take a piece of paper and rule it down the centre. On one side write down all your dreams.
On the other side put your dreams in order of priority.
Re-write your dream list, with the dreams in thier priority. Don’t worry, some time down the track you will no doubt change priorities, or even your dreams. This is common, just get them on paper!
Try to be realistic here. It’s no good at this time to put a multi million mansion at the top of the list when you are struggling to buy take out. Little steps will build strength in you and you achieving your dreams.
Okay, now it’s time to go look for those pictures. Put the first one on the ‘fridge and the others in a safe place. As you achieve one dream you are going to replace that picture with the next one on the list.
Keep the old pictures though. With these you will build a diary of where you have come from. Some time in the future you are going to pull this diary out and look back on your achievements.
Some times you will do this with pride – sometimes you will do this as a pick-me-up if things are going a little slow.
Till next time – have fun and be kind to each other
